Court Vision

Multiple grade I winner
Court Vision
has been purchased privately by Spendthrift Farm and will be trained by Dale Romans through the remainder of the season before retiring to stud, Spendthrift’s general manager Ned Toffey confirmed Aug. 26.

The 6-year-old son of
Gulch
out of the Storm Bird mare Weekend Storm was transferred to Romans’ Saratoga barn from the care of Rick Dutrow Jr. Aug. 25 and will continue pointing toward the $1 million Woodbine Mile (Can-IT) Sept. 18; he won the event last year by 1 1/4 lengths.

“We purchased him primarily for breeding purposes but he will run, obviously as much as any racehorse can have a plan to run, for the rest of the year,” Toffey said. “That’s the plan—to race him through the year and retire him at the end. Beyond that, his stud plans are not determined except to say that he’ll be another horse in our ‘Share the Upside’ program, which we’re doing in New York and Kentucky.
“Where we’ll stand the horse is yet to be decided.”
Court Vision, formerly owned by IEAH Stables, Golden Goose Enterprises, Resolute Group Stables, and WinStar Farm, was bred in Kentucky by William S. Farish and Kilroy Thoroughbred Partnership. He has an 8-4-4 record from 29 starts with earnings of $2,656,435.
Six of those scores came in stakes: the 2007 Remsen (gr. II) and Iroquois (gr. III), the 2008 Jamaica Handicap (gr. IIT) and Hollywood Derby (gr. IT)), the 2009 Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. IT), and the 2010 Woodbine Mile. He also ran third in the 2008 Fountain of Youth Stakes (gr. I) and Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I) before running 13th in that year’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and sixth in the Travers Stakes (gr. I).
“He’s a very good-looking horse with a great deal of ability, and he’s also very versatile, proven on dirt and on turf,” Toffey said. “His pedigree is just tremendous, and we felt that he’s really a pretty complete package as far as a stallion prospect is concerned.”

AfleetTreet - Court Vision is bred very similar to the successful sire Thunder Gulch (Gulch-Line of Thunder by Storm Bird).
It's good to see he was a good 2 yr old winning the Remsen and he has an excellent record on different surfaces.
Spendthrift looks like it wants to be a serious player in the breeding game doesn't it?

I'm thankful he's out of the Dutrow barn and I hope he'll win a few nice races for Dale before they retire him...always thought the colt had talent, just wasn't handled right...Dale will do right by him. Good news!!
