Acceptance by invited nominees has to be confirmed this Saturday, Aug. 20th. An original invitee that declines to participate can be replaced by one from an alternate list. Alternate list to be published Mon. Aug. 22nd.
There are three Grade 1 winner invitees.
Ask The Moon - won the Ruffian Inv. Gr1 July 31st and carrying 114 lbs
Blind Luck - won the Vanity H. Gr1 June 18th and carrying 123 lbs
Havre de Grace - won the Apple Blossom Gr1 Apr. 15th and carrying 119 lbs.
I notice Larry Jones trainer of Havre de Grace also has another 5 year old mare invitee Payton d'Oro.
Perhaps Larry is thinking of running 2 against Blind Luck
Hopefully we'll know who accepted by late Saturday afternoon.

If I was managing Blind Luck's stakes schedule I would enter her in the Personal Ensign.

I would use the Beldame Inv at Belmont as the other prep before the BC.

Blind Luck won on the dirt at both Saratoga and Churchill Downs last year.

Havre de Grace has never won at Churchill Downs or Saratoga.

I think Hollendorfer's decision to run his filly in the Pacific Classic was to see how she does against good colts. I still feel Twirling Candy is the best U.S. male horse running right now, except for perhaps Cape Blanco, and if she does well in this race it sets her up for the BC Classic. Her trainer already knows she can handle the dirt and now she doesn't need to ship until November. Go BL!!!

oso7 - Yes, both Twirling Candy and Game Dude are to be reckoned with. Hollendorfer has until midnight tonight Sat. Aug. 20th to declare if he is going in the Personal Ensign with Blind Luck. Some trainers hold off until the last minute before they declare their intentions. The racing office has a fax on 7/24 and as long as he sends in a fax no later than 11:59PM his entry will be time stamped by the fax machine. Did you notice Rick Porter said he was 95% sure he was going in the Woodward and not 100%? He could be scared off if a couple of top horses nominate. I understand Hollendorfer said he will announce his decision tomorrow Sunday. He like many other trainers keep their plans close to their chest so as not to let the competition know when or where he is going to run. Quite the drama isn't it?

I just read in the DRF Jerry Hollendorfer will not be going in the Personal Ensign and perhaps not the Pacific Classic either.
He may use the Lady's Secret as a prep stake race.
He also is quoted as saying his goal for Blind Luck is the LADIES CLASSIC Breeders Cup, not the C&G Classic BC.

I just had a look at the updated nominees for the Personal Ensign and Havre de Grace is still in by accepting the invitation.
We all know Blind Luck declined the invitation and of course she is not on the new Alternative Nominee List.
The entries for the Personal Ensign close Thursday Aug. 25th for race day Sunday Aug. 28th.

Havre de Grace is also nominated to the Woodward to be run Sept 3rd.
Some of the other nominess to the Woodward are Ice Box, Shakleford, Sidney's Candy, Flat Out, Game On Dude,Giant Oak,etc.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Havre de Grace backs off the Woodward and enter the Personal Ensign on Thursday.
Stay tuned to the equine soap show "Around Two Turns"

Nominations are not usually a good indication of who will be starting in the race. It's like giving the nominees for the Kentucky Derby and saying since they are nominated they will be going. I'm surprised you don't know this Hail, with your background.

fred p - The Woodward Stakes was just a list of nominees, which is what I stated.
There is no comparison to the nomination conditions between the Kentucky Derby and The Woodward Stakes.
The Kentucky Derby has 3 separate nomination dates and a supplement date.
The Woodward Stakes only has one nomination date and no supplement date.
The Personal Ensign Invitational is an invitational has has completely different nomination conditions to regular stakes.
When the invitation was declined by Blind Luck they add an altenate and publish a new list.

Bornahorseman - Your call on Blind Luck was perfect.
She is Lady's Secret bound.
