Yes, Don, and the facts speak for themselves. No, you don't want a TB with the legs of a Shire--I was going to say Clydesdale but want to minimize the fireworks between Born and Biscuit--but our horse's legs are so spindly and light-boned, it is very alarming. Makes for fast horses but a lot of inju...

Big Don I guess everyone thinks I'm making an argument that one region is better than another...but I am not. If the Pat O'Brien was run at Santa Anita on the dirt I wouldn't be making this argument. I may be wrong but I still believe that American breeders prefer to breed to studs with superior di...

I think they're off as well if she earned a 123. Now I can't remember what TB had a 122 class rating which led the US one year. Seems impossible Royal Delta could have topped that with Saturday's performance.

I don't think I ever read about the reason for his illness, just some suppositions. Born~I have no idea what you're talking about. I really don't. You think wondering if a toxin got into his feed is somehow slamming A) the horse B) the trainer C) the groom D) the nightwatchman? I know some thought i...

Treet, No, Sadler's colt, Sweet Swap, won as Bob Baffert predicted. Jenny Craig owns the colt. Baffert's two horses ran 2nd and 6th, Currins' was 2nd to last-yikes. They were disappointed but he came back ok and was fine the next day. He'll get better with experience but I don't think he's going to ...

Stay Thirsty's lack of a G1 so far along with the fact HDG has only 1 in her career move them down a peg to those who have recorded more. Also, I do agree there is still much racing to go but, realistically, each contender probably has only 1 to 2 races left before the BC. If there is one horse whom...

Yes, the track was deep but what would be your estimate to how much time was added to the running? 1 second?

Born, What's the problem with discussing this? I said above a toxin in his feed could have caused the problem with his liver. Did you take that to mean I thought Todd Pletcher or someone else purposefully introduced it into his feed? His illness was not related to the misuse of drugs that I know of....

Royal Delta might be bred to go all day but the time was over 2:03. BL could sleep walk down the lane and beat that time.

I could be wrong but I do feel Baffert told Garcia to not push his filly in that race. He had little option but to run Plum Pretty since she was already there and needed the race. But I think the slow fractions were evidence she wasn't running full out. The overall time was pretty pedestrian and I d...

I know the HOY has been political in the past but was not surprised to see RA get the nod. She had a noteworthy, fabulous 3-year-old campaign. If anything, they deserved to be co-winners but that is water under the bridge. The fact the East Coast DRF writers as a bloc overwhelmingly voted for RA, wh...

It was a planned move to box WT in, they knew she was the top competitor and I'm not surprised it happened. Typical race riding but I'm glad her jockey didn't do anything in retaliation which might have resulted in a spill for someone. She has a chance to prove herself later this fall.

Yes, I know JH might take that option but since he's run her exclusively in graded stakes the last 2 years, I just think it's unlikely. The distaff division has many stand outs and It's Tricky is one as well. There's no question of that. This fall is going to be very exciting but I'm sticking with B...

He had a very nice colt, Sweet Swap, win on Saturday's 6th race at Del Mar. The Currins had a colt, My Best Brother, making his debut as well. In the saddling paddock Bob Baffert came up to Bill Currin and me and said, "We're both running for 2nd place behind Sadler's colt." He was right. ...
